Another year is nearly over. It has been a very busy year at the site both in the number of people using the site and the work that has been carried out.

In spite of the not-too-brilliant weather the site has stood up well to the heavy use.

The main event of the year as far as the Team is concerned is the erection and fit-out of the new Activities Barn. It has taken a huge amount of hours and effort by everyone concerned. But what a fantastic result. The Barn is now being used for Archery and Air Rifle sessions and the construction of a Bouldering wall is now well in hand and this should be ready early in the new season. This was made possible by a large grant from Colin and Viv Brooks who, although living away now, still maintain close ties with the District.

The refurbishment of the Females’ toilet block was completed just in time for the start of the camping year and has been well received. The inclusion of shower in the Girls’ toilets means that we now have two showers available.

A new Pinsent badge has been produced following a competition which was open to all the Young People in the District. This was the fourth time we have held a competition to design the Pinsent badge and the entry level was the highest yet with 37 designs received. The standard of the entries was very good and after much deliberation the entry chosen for the new badge was a design by Joseph Buckland who is a Scout with the 1st Winchester Greek Troop. Well done Joseph and a huge thank you to all those who took the time to enter some great designs.

The site is now closed for camping and evening sessions until the end of March. This is to give the site time to recover from the heavy use of the last year.

We look forward to seeing you when the site reopens and in the meantime the Pinsent Team wish you a very happy and healthy New Year.
