Community Impact is young people taking action in the service of others, creating positive social change that is of benefit to the community in which we live, but also to the young people taking part.
Across Scouting we take two community impact approaches for action:
-
Actions that matter to young people locally- there are many different issues that our young people are taking action on so as to help Winchester
-
A collective approach where we partner with other organisations to collaborate on specila projects. Across the country we involve ourselves in helping to make changes on specific societal issues. We have developed initiatives, resources, tools and training to focus our 430,000 young people to make specific impacts. This programme is called A Million Hands.

One project we are working on in Winchester now is here:
Winchester Hospice Challenge
You may find it surprising that Winchester, the county town of Hampshire, has no hospice. The nearest is either in Andover, Southampton or Basingstoke, but this is soon to change.
Winchester Rotary and Scout groups in the Winchester Districthave joined forces to raise money to build a much needed hospice in Winchester.
