Well, another camping year over, or nearly. There are still one or two hardy groups still braving the elements.

It has been a very busy year with most weekends seeing groups camping as well as a few Summer camps in the School Holidays. The site has been very well used during the weekday evenings, both for the Campsite and the Activities.

The maintenance team have been very busy keeping the site up to scratch and carrying out improvements. A new fence has been errected along the Clarendon Way boundary to make the site more secure. It looks a bit bare at the moment but the vegetation will soon grow back. A new container has been put in place to replace the one in the car park which was falling apart.

The focus for our efforts now is the preparation for the new Activities Building which will be on the site of the old barn. This has been made possible by a very kind donation from Colin and Viv Brooks and a grant from the City Council via the Government UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The majority of the work is being carried out by the Pinsent Maintenance Team, along with anyone we can rope in to help. Hopefully this will be completed by the start of next year's season. If you would like to help, please get in touch.

One sad note was that we had to have an Oak tree felled due to a root problem. We have left the column (main trunk) standing to encourage wildlife to use it for habitat.

If you would like to get involved in maintaining the site please get in touch, it would be good to see you. campsitemanager@winscouts.org

Chris is also looking for more volunteers to help with the Activities, full training will be given. activitymanager@winscouts.org
