Summer is with us, so the calendar tells us, and camping and evening sessions are well under way.

There are a number of groups booked in during the Summer Holidays, and beyond, so the site will be well used over the rest of the summer.

The new Activities Barn is nearly completed, with just a few final touches to be done, and being fully utilised. Well don to Chris and the team for all the hard work putting it all together. Also a big thanks to Colin and Viv for their invaluable contribution to the cost of the building and their original idea.

Now we have the new Barn the Activities Team will be able to offer more sessions of Archery and Rifle Shooting. To make sure we can make full use of the facility it would be good to have more qualified instructors. If you hold the relevant qualifications or would like to gain them, please get in touch with Chris Floyd, our Activities Manager.

Over the past few months the Girls’ toilet block has been refurbished and now has a shower installed. There is a charge, £1.00, for using the shower but it means that we now have two showers on site. The one in the accessible toilet also incurs a charge of £1.00 for use.

The site is looking really good in spite of all the rain we have had. The camping areas are holding up well.

We have had a survey of the trees and await the result to see what work needs to be done to keep the site up to standard and ensure the safety of all the users. Unless there is any urgent issues we will wait until the Autumn before carrying out any remedial work.

The current Pinsent badge is due to be replaced with a new design and a competition will be run in the Autumn term to get the Young People in the District to design the replacement ready for next year. (Ask your Section Leader for details

If you would like to get involved in maintaining the site please get in touch, it would be good to see you. campsitemanager@winscouts.org

Chris is also looking for more volunteers to help with the Activities, full training will be given. activitymanager@winscouts.org
